Knox County operates 88 schools, including 49 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, 13 high schools, two vocational centers, three special education centers, and two early childhood development centers.

The Facilities Department is charged with the long-range planning, development, and construction of new facilities and the remodeling/additions to current facilities.

The Department coordinates capital improvement projects, roof/HVAC projects, modular classroom additions & relocations and various physical plant upgrades.

The Facilities Department is committed to providing a safe and effective environment for learning to take place.
